The Missouri Foundation for Health and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Time Critical Diagnosis (TCD) Task Force held its fifth and final meeting on March 18 in Jefferson City at the Governor’s office building in Jefferson City.

 

Jane Drummond became the director of the Department of Health & Senior Services (DHSS) in November of 2006.  Appointed by Governor Blunt, Jane first acted as General Council with the Blunt Administration but was asked to lead DHSS after Julie Eckstein left the department.   Her previous experience includes working as an attorney in private practice with the firm Husch Blackwell, which represents nursing homes across the state.

 

On October 9, 2007, in a very rural part of Reynolds County, Missouri, a school bus carrying 32 elementary school children went out of control, rolling three times.

FEMA provides great training opportunities for emergency service and other public and private entities that we all rely on in an emergency or disaster.  However it appears to this writer that EMS providers do not take advantage of this wonderful resource. 

 

CAMDENTON — Denise K. Russell has been named the new Camden County Emergency Management Director, replacing Harold Ward who retired after 15 years.

 

COLE COUNTY - Capital Region EMS currently operates ambulances, but is looking to pull out of the business.

 

1.    Peer Review Legislation – This effort is supported by MEMSA, MAA, MO ACEP, MO Fire Service Alliance, MDHSS & SAC.  SB 915 (Ridgeway), HB 1454 (Roorda) has been assigned to Judiciary Committee.  The legislation would provide protection for Quality Improvement records from plaintiff attorneys.
