MEMSA Board Elects New Officers

On August 6th the MEMSA board of directors held its annual election of officers for the next one-year term.  The board held the election near the Tan-Tar-A Resort as a precursor to the Combined Clinical Conference.

Combined Clinical Conference and the MEMSA Award Ceremony

Three hundred, twenty five people attended the 21st annual Combined Clinical Conference on Emergency Care, held August 8 – 10 at the Tan-Tar-A Resort at the Lake of the Ozarks. 

Organizations sponsoring the event were the Missouri Chapter of American College of Emergency Physicians, the Missouri Emergency Nurses Association and the Missouri Emergency Medical Services Association (MEMSA).

MEMSA’s Role in Missouri EMS – Serving EMT’s and Paramedics Statewide

USERRA: What You Do Not Know Can Cost You Big Time

n 1994 Congress replaced the Veterans Reemployment Act with the Uniform Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA).  Congress directed the Department of Labor to promulgate implementing regulations.  The Department of Labor got right on the task and twelve years later, on January 18, 2006 the implementing regulations became effective!  The regulations are available from the DOL website located at: www.dol.gov/vets.

Cell Phone 911 Legislation

Missouri has the proud status of being the only state in the union which does not have some sort of funding mechanism to help pay for (and thus establish) a system to find 911 calls from a cell phone.

That’s right    over two thirds of Missouri’s population can use their cell phone to make a 911 call and we cannot find them.

Congrats UEMS On A Job Well Done!
